## Description

Rifugio Angelo Dibona is located at 2,083 m (6,834 ft) in a sheltered clearing among **larch trees** at the western base of the **Tofane** massif. The hut honours **Angelo Dibona**, the legendary Ampezzo mountain guide who made first ascents across the Dolomites and the Alps in the early 1900s. It is one of the most popular and best-equipped refuges in the **Cortina d'Ampezzo** area, welcoming families and alpinists alike.

The position offers a dramatic contrast between the forested valley floor and the soaring vertical walls of **Tofana di Rozes** directly above. Trails radiate in all directions - toward **Passo Falzarego** to the west, up to **Rifugio Pomedes** and the WWI tunnels above, and across to the **Cinque Torri** to the south. The forest setting provides welcome shade on hot summer days and a beautiful golden display in September.

The hut has 50 beds in a mix of private rooms and dormitories. The restaurant is spacious and well run, with a large sun terrace popular for lunch. Access is via a forest road from the **Cortina - Falzarego** highway, with a car park roughly 20 minutes below the hut. It fills quickly on weekends, so advance reservations are strongly encouraged throughout the season.
