## Description

Rifugio Auronzo is situated at 2,333 m (7,654 ft) at the southern base of the **Tre Cime di Lavaredo (Drei Zinnen)**. Located in the **Sexten Dolomites**, it serves as the most accessible starting point for exploring the iconic three towers. Unlike many high-altitude huts, it sits at the terminus of a paved toll road, making it the primary hub for thousands of daily visitors entering the **Tre Cime Natural Park**.

The terrain surrounding the hut is a contrast between the sheer, vertical limestone of the **Cima Grande** and the sweeping views southward toward the **Cadini di Misurina** pinnacles. It is a critical waypoint for hikers on the **Alta Via 4** and serves as the trailhead for the classic 10 km (6.2 mi) loop around the peaks.

While the hut offers private rooms and large dormitories, it is most famous for its bustling terrace and proximity to the **Forcella Lavaredo**. Be aware that the toll road from **Misurina** costs 40 EUR ($44) per car for 2026 and frequently reaches capacity by 08:00 during peak summer months. If you plan to stay overnight, booking several months in advance is mandatory.
