## Description

Rifugio Biella stands at 2,327 m (7,635 ft) on a rocky shoulder above the **Fanes plateau**, within the **Fanes-Sennes-Braies Natural Park**. The hut overlooks the small and striking **Lago di Limo** far below - a shallow lake famous for its floating grass islands. To the east, the view extends across the broad **Sennes** highlands toward the distant peaks of the **Pragser Dolomiten**.

The hut occupies a more elevated and exposed position than its neighbors **Rifugio Fanes** and **Rifugio Lavarella**, giving it a wilder, more remote character. It serves as a waypoint for hikers crossing between the Fanes plateau and the higher passes leading toward **Rifugio Sennes** or the **Seekofel (Croda del Becco)**. The surrounding terrain is rocky and barren, a sharp contrast to the green meadows of the valley floor.

The most common approach is from **Rifugio Fanes** or **Rifugio Lavarella**, each about 90 minutes of steady climbing. The hut offers dormitory accommodation and full meal service with generous portions. With 46 beds it is smaller than the valley huts below, and the exposed location means weather can change quickly - hikers should plan their timing carefully and book in advance.
