## Description

Rifugio Città di Fiume is located at 1,918 m (6,293 ft) in a tranquil clearing at the foot of **Monte Pelmo**, one of the most recognizable peaks in the Dolomites. The hut sits within the dense conifer forests of the **Selva di Cadore** area, with the colossal northwest face of Pelmo towering directly above. It marks a critical stage on the **Alta Via 1**, linking the **Croda da Lago** section to the **Civetta** group further south.

The setting is quieter and more secluded than many Alta Via stops, making it a favorite among hikers who value solitude. From the hut, the classic ascent of **Monte Pelmo** via the normal route begins - a demanding but non-technical climb that rewards with views across the entire western Dolomites. The surrounding trails also lead toward **Forcella Staulanza** and the road pass at **Passo Staulanza**.

The hut is accessible by car via a forest road from **Passo Staulanza**, reducing the walk-in to just 20 minutes. It offers simple dormitory accommodation and home-cooked meals with ingredients sourced locally. Given its small capacity of 35 guests, advance booking is necessary throughout the season, particularly for hikers following the Alta Via 1.
