# Rifugio Fedare

A year-round refuge at the base of the Lagazuoi cable car, serving as a convenient staging point for excursions to Lagazuoi, Cinque Torri, and the Falzarego area.

## Description

Rifugio Fedare is situated at 2,000 m (6,562 ft) next to the lower station of the **Lagazuoi cable car**, just off the road between **Passo Falzarego** and **Cortina d'Ampezzo**. Its roadside position and year-round opening make it one of the most accessible mountain stops in the area. In summer, it serves hikers and climbers heading up **Lagazuoi** or across to the **Cinque Torri**. In winter, it is a popular stop for skiers on the **Dolomiti Superski** circuit.

The views from the hut take in the **Falzarego** valley and the surrounding peaks, including the south face of **Lagazuoi** directly above and the distant towers of **Sass de Stria** across the road. The area is steeped in World War I history - trenches and fortifications are scattered across the surrounding hillsides and can be explored on marked trails.

With only 10 beds, overnight stays require planning. The real draw is the restaurant, which serves reliable mountain food throughout the day to passing hikers and motorists. Its position at the cable car makes it an ideal starting or finishing point for day hikes. Parking is available along the road nearby, and the **Falzarego Pass** is a five-minute drive east.
