## Description

Rifugio Fodara Vedla sits at 1,980 m (6,496 ft) in a broad alpine basin within the **Fanes-Sennes-Braies Natural Park**, one of the largest protected areas in South Tyrol. The hut has origins as a traditional mountain farmstead and retains its rustic Ladin character, with thick stone walls and a wood-paneled interior that feels timeless.

The most popular approach begins at **Pederü (1,548 m (5,079 ft))**, following a wide gravel track that climbs gradually through forest before opening into the high-altitude grasslands of the **Fanes** area. The trail continues onward to **Rifugio Lavarella** and the **Fanes plateau**, making Fodara Vedla a natural first or last stop on multi-day circuits.

The hut accommodates 42 guests and is known for its exceptional South Tyrolean cuisine - the **Kaiserschmarrn** and homemade **Knödel** are local favorites. Its extended season from May to November makes it accessible well beyond the typical summer window. The surrounding meadows are home to marmots, and the views toward **Monte Castello** and the **Cunturines** are outstanding.
