## Description

Rifugio Lavaredo stands at 2,344 m (7,690 ft) on the northern flank of the **Tre Cime di Lavaredo**, directly beneath the towering north faces that made these peaks famous among climbers. The hut is a key stop on the classic **Tre Cime loop trail** and sits along the route of the **Alta Via 4**, linking the **Sexten Dolomites** to the south toward **Cortina d'Ampezzo**.

From the terrace, hikers look straight up at the sheer north walls of the **Cima Grande**, **Cima Ovest**, and **Cima Piccola** - a perspective that reveals the true scale of these limestone towers. The surrounding high plateau of scree and alpine grassland opens toward the **Cadini group** and the distant **Cristallo massif** to the southwest.

The refuge accommodates 70 guests in dormitory-style rooms and is reachable within approximately one hour from **Rifugio Auronzo** via the well-marked loop trail. Unlike the southern approach, this side of the circuit sees fewer day-trippers, making it a rewarding lunch stop or overnight base for those wanting a quieter experience of the **Tre Cime Natural Park**.
