# Rifugio Lavarella

Set deep in the Fanes-Sennes-Braies Natural Park, this welcoming hut offers a peaceful base for exploring the legendary Fanes plateau and its network of high-altitude trails.

## Description

Rifugio Lavarella stands at 2,050 m (6,726 ft) in the heart of the **Fanes-Sennes-Braies Natural Park**, surrounded by the wide meadows and ancient dolomite formations of the **Fanes plateau**. The hut occupies a sheltered position in the **Val di Fanes**, with the imposing walls of the **Cima Dieci (Zehnerspitze)** rising to the east and the rolling alpine pastures stretching westward toward **Passo di Limo**.

This is one of the most popular overnight stops in the park, attracting hikers traversing the network of trails that link **Rifugio Fanes**, **Rifugio Biella**, and **Lago di Limo**. The surrounding landscape is steeped in Ladin mythology - the Fanes plateau is said to be the kingdom of a legendary mountain people. It also serves as a waypoint for those heading toward the **Alta Via 1** corridor.

The hut is reached on foot from **San Vigilio di Marebbe** via the Pederü bus service, which cuts the approach to roughly 90 minutes of walking. Lavarella offers both dormitory beds and private rooms, with full meal service including hearty South Tyrolean cuisine. Booking ahead is strongly recommended during July and August.
