## Description

Rifugio Passo Duran is located at 1,605 m (5,266 ft) directly on the **Passo Duran**, a mountain road pass that separates the **Civetta group** to the north from the **Moiazza** massif to the south. The hut occupies a strategic position in the **Agordino** district of the **Belluno** province, with the massive rock walls of both mountain groups visible from its terrace.

The pass is a natural junction for several important trails. Hikers on the **Alta Via 1** pass through here between the Civetta section and the descent toward the **Schiara group**. The hut also serves as a starting point for the ascent of **Moiazza** via the famous **Ferrata Costantini** and for trails leading north toward **Rifugio Vazzoler** and the heart of the Civetta. The contrast between the two opposing mountain walls creates a dramatic corridor effect.

Unlike most mountain huts, Rifugio Passo Duran is directly accessible by car via the paved road over the pass, making it one of the easiest rifugios to reach in this part of the Dolomites. It offers 25 beds in dormitory rooms and a full restaurant service with local specialties. Despite its road access, the hut maintains a genuine mountain atmosphere and fills up during peak weeks - booking is recommended.
