## Description

Rifugio Scotoni sits at 2,040 m (6,693 ft) on a sunny terrace above **San Cassiano** in the **Alta Badia** valley. Positioned on the eastern flank of **Lagazuoi**, the hut commands sweeping views across the **Fanes** and **Cunturines** massifs. It is a popular rest stop for hikers traversing the trails between **Passo Falzarego** and the **Fanes-Sennes-Braies Natural Park**.

The most common approach starts from the **Armentarola** area near **San Cassiano**, following a well-marked trail that climbs steadily through alpine meadows and scattered larch forest. An alternative route descends from the **Lagazuoi** cable car station, connecting this hut to the wartime tunnel network on the mountain's south face.

With only 20 beds, Rifugio Scotoni is intimate and fills quickly during July and August. The kitchen serves classic South Tyrolean dishes alongside Italian staples. The terrace is an ideal lunch stop with direct views of **Conturines (3,064 m (10,052 ft))** and the pale rock towers of the **Fanes plateau** stretching to the northeast.
