## Description

Rifugio Vazzoler is positioned at 1,714 m (5,623 ft) on the southwestern flank of the **Civetta group**, one of the most imposing mountain walls in the Dolomites. The hut sits in a larch forest clearing with direct views up toward the **Torre Venezia** and the legendary **Parete dei Murazzi**. It lies within the municipality of **Alleghe**, deep in the **Val Civetta**.

The refuge is a cornerstone of the **Alta Via 1**, serving as the overnight stop between **Rifugio Coldai** to the north and **Rifugio Carestiato** or **Passo Duran** to the south. It is also a renowned base camp for rock climbers tackling the classic routes on the Civetta's northwest face - one of the largest vertical walls in the Alps. The surrounding trails offer a mix of moderate valley walks and exposed high routes.

Access is on foot from **Listolade** in the valley, with a steady uphill walk of approximately two hours. The hut is spacious and well-run, offering both dormitory and private room accommodation along with full meal service. With 80 beds it is one of the larger huts in the Civetta area, but booking ahead remains essential during peak season in July and August.
