## Day-by-day itinerary

### Day 1: Arrival at Pocol

- Distance: 0 km
- Time: 0 h
- Ascent: 0 m
- Descent: 0 m

**Welcome to the Cortina area.** Arrival day in Pocol, a quiet hamlet perched above Cortina with wide views of the surrounding massifs. The afternoon is free to settle in, take an easy walk along the ridge nearby, or head down to Cortina to get your bearings. Dinner at the hotel with the first evening views of the Tofane catching the last light.

### Day 2: Falzarego Pass to Cinque Torri

- Distance: 10 km
- Time: 4.5 h
- Ascent: 350 m
- Descent: 715 m

**The towers and the war museum.** The first full hiking day starts at Falzarego Pass, climbing to Forcella Averau before dropping to the Cinque Torri - five striking rock towers surrounded by World War I trenches restored as an open-air museum. The descent returns to Pocol through flower-filled meadows below the Tofane.

### Day 3: Tofane de Rozes via Alta Via 1

- Distance: 10.5 km
- Time: 5 h
- Ascent: 350 m
- Descent: 630 m

**Classic Alta Via 1 terrain.** From the trailhead above Cortina, the route follows the Alta Via 1 along the base of the Tofane de Rozes - a spectacular wall of pale rock rising vertically from the trail. After reaching the Dibona refuge for lunch, the descent returns through larch forest back toward the hotel.

### Day 4: Lake Sorapis

- Distance: 11.7 km
- Time: 5.5 h
- Ascent: 558 m
- Descent: 558 m

**The turquoise lake.** After a private transfer to Passo Tre Croci, the trail climbs through forest and scree to Lake Sorapis - a glacially fed lake of extraordinary turquoise colour hemmed in by vertical rock walls. The return descends to Misurina by bus. Your luggage arrives at the new hotel independently.

### Day 5: Tre Cime Approach via Val Ribon

- Distance: 15 km
- Time: 5 h
- Ascent: 450 m
- Descent: 860 m

**First approach to the three peaks.** From Auronzo by bus, the route descends through Val Ribon and follows the lake trail past Lake Antorno back to Misurina. This lower-level approach gives a completely different perspective on the Tre Cime massif and builds anticipation for the full circuit the following day.

### Day 6: Tre Cime Full Circuit

- Distance: 13 km
- Time: 4.5 h
- Ascent: 590 m
- Descent: 590 m

**The full loop around the icons.** Bus from Misurina to Auronzo, then the complete circuit of the Tre Cime. The trail rounds all three towers - past the Lavaredo refuge at Forcella Lavaredo, along the dramatic north face, and past the Paterno col back to Auronzo.

### Day 7: Departure

- Distance: 0 km
- Time: 0 h
- Ascent: 0 m
- Descent: 0 m

**Last morning at altitude.** A relaxed final breakfast with lake views before heading home. A short walk along the Misurina lakeshore makes a calm end to the week.

## FAQ

### Is this tour suitable for beginners?

This tour is rated Easy and is well suited to reasonably active people with limited mountain hiking experience. Daily hikes range from 10 to 15 km (6.2 to 9.3 mi) with moderate elevation gain. The hotel base means no heavy pack carrying and each day can be adjusted to your pace.

### What are the hotels like?

Both hotels are 3-4 star properties in the Pocol and Misurina areas. Rooms are private doubles with en-suite facilities. Half-board is included, covering a full dinner and breakfast each day.

### Do I need a car for this tour?

No. A private transfer is included on Day 4. The other hiking days use public buses to reach trailheads, which is covered in the travel packet.

### When is the best time for this itinerary?

July and August offer the most reliable weather and all mountain facilities open. June is quieter but some cable cars may not yet be operating. September is excellent for clear skies and autumn colours with fewer people on the trails.
