Passo Fedaia (Fedaia Pass), at 2,054 m6,739 ft, links the Val di Fassa, in Trentino, to the Pettorina valley and the Alto Agordino, in the province of Belluno. For a hiker, this is the Marmolada pass, and in summer you can reach it without a car.
Where is Passo Fedaia and what can you see from it?
The pass lies at the foot of the Marmolada, whose Punta Penìa, at 3,343 m10,968 ft, is the highest peak in the Dolomites UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its north face, home to the largest glacier in the Dolomites, slopes down to the shore of Lake Fedaia.
The lake is not natural: it is a reservoir about 2 km1.2 mi long, closed by a dam.

How do you get to Passo Fedaia?
By bus, two summer lines climb to the pass:
- From the Belluno side, Dolomiti Bus line 54 (Falcade - Caprile - Malga Ciapela - Pian di Fedaia) ends at the Rifugio Marmolada stop. In 2026 it ran from 8 June to 9 September (check the 2027 dates); the number of runs changes from day to day. Timetables: Dolomiti Bus, line 54 (in Italian and English).
- From the Val di Fassa side, Trentino Trasporti line B 131 links Penia di Canazei to the pass, in summer only. Timetables: Val di Fassa, Trentino Trasporti bus.
By car, the SS 641 climbs to the pass. From Canazei the climb is long, with gradients of up to 12%. In February 2026 an avalanche closed the road on the Trentino side, between the dam and the provincial boundary: outside the summer season, check the state of the road before driving up.

What can you do from Passo Fedaia?
Arrive on foot by the Bindelweg: from Passo Pordoi, trail 601 passes the Fredarola hut and the Belvedere, then follows the Bindelweg to the Fedaia. Allow 2 hours 15 minutes for 7 km4.3 mi, with 300 m984 ft of ascent and 480 m1,575 ft of descent. It is a one-way route.
