Rifugio Sommariva al Pramperet sits at 1,857 m6,093 ft in the heart of the Schiara group, one of the most rugged and least-visited mountain ranges in the southern Dolomites. The hut is managed by the CAI Belluno section and serves as a key base for climbers tackling the imposing north face of Monte Schiara (2,565 m8,415 ft) and hikers exploring the wild Val Prampèr.

The approach follows a scenic trail through dense forest and open meadows, passing waterfalls and limestone outcrops that characterize this remote corner of the Dolomiti Bellunesi National Park. The surrounding terrain is remarkably untouched - a stark contrast to the more popular areas further north.

With just 25 beds, the hut maintains an intimate and welcoming atmosphere. It is a critical stop on the Alta Via 1, which passes directly through Val Prampèr on its way south toward Belluno. Meals are hearty and traditional, prepared with ingredients carried up from the valley below.
