Capacity 12 Guests

Rifugio Pelmo is located at 1,700 m5,577 ft on the southwestern slopes of Monte Pelmo, one of the most recognizable summits in the Dolomites. The refuge accommodates just 12 guests and operates year-round, offering a peaceful base beneath the enormous rock wall that dominates the skyline. Monte Pelmo holds historical significance as the first major Dolomite peak to be climbed, summited by John Ball in 1857.

The surrounding terrain blends dense spruce forest with rocky clearings that open up dramatic perspectives of the mountain's layered limestone bands. Trails from the hut lead to the Forcella Val d'Arcia and the demanding Anello dello Zoldo circuit. The area is also a gateway to the quieter western approach of the Alta Via 1 for those linking south toward Alleghe.

Access is on foot from the road between Borca di Cadore and Passo Staulanza. The hut serves simple, traditional meals with ingredients sourced from the valley below. Its small size means advance booking is strongly recommended, particularly during the summer walking season from July through September.
