Elevation 1 507 m4,944 ft
Season June - October
Capacity 24 Guests

Rifugio Palafavera sits at 1,507 m4,944 ft on the broad meadows below the western flanks of the Civetta massif, one of the largest rock walls in the Alps. The refuge accommodates 24 guests and is open from June through October. Its position at the junction of several major trail systems makes it one of the most important staging points in the Alleghe area.

From the hut, the classic approach to Rifugio Tissi and the foot of the Civetta north face climbs steeply through forest and scree. Trails also branch westward toward Passo Staulanza and the Pelmo group, or south into the Val Civetta. The surrounding meadows offer unobstructed views of the Civetta's dramatic profile and the distant Marmolada glacier.

Access is straightforward from the road between Alleghe and Passo Staulanza, with parking available nearby. The hut is a popular lunch stop for day hikers and a practical overnight base for those walking the Alta Via 1 who prefer a lower-altitude start before the steep climb to the high refuges above.
