Berghotel Passo Giau stands at 2,236 m7,336 ft at the summit of Passo Giau, one of the most scenic high passes in the Dolomites. The pass connects Cortina d'Ampezzo to the Val Fiorentina and is famous for its winding road and photogenic views of Ra Gusela, Nuvolau, and the distant Marmolada glacier. The hotel operates year-round, making it a rare option for winter visitors.

The panorama from the pass is extraordinary in every direction - the jagged profile of Croda da Lago fills the eastern view, while the pyramidal summit of Monte Pelmo rises to the south. In summer, the surrounding meadows burst with wildflowers, and the gentle trails radiating from the pass attract walkers of all abilities. In winter, the area becomes a popular snowshoeing and ski touring destination.

Despite its roadside location, the hotel maintains a peaceful mountain character with just 12 guest beds. Rooms are warm and well-appointed, and the restaurant is known for its strudel and local cheeses. The pass road is typically open from late May to early November, but the hotel can be accessed on foot or by snowcat during winter closures.
