Rifugio Lagazuoi sits at 2,752 m9,029 ft on the summit of Piccolo Lagazuoi, directly above the Passo Falzarego. The hut commands a sweeping 360-degree panorama that takes in the Marmolada, Tofane, Civetta, Pelmo, and the distant Sella massif. It is one of the highest-positioned rifugios in the Dolomites and a landmark stop on the Alta Via 1.

Beyond the views, the summit is a living museum of the First World War. Restored tunnels and galleries carved into the mountain by Italian and Austro-Hungarian soldiers can be explored directly from the hut. The exposed descent through the tunnels to Passo Falzarego is one of the most dramatic experiences available to hikers in the region. The sunset from the terrace is widely regarded as the finest in the entire range.

Access is straightforward thanks to the Lagazuoi cable car departing from Passo Falzarego, which reaches the summit in about three minutes. Alternatively, hikers can ascend on foot via the WWI tunnel route in roughly two hours. The hut offers dormitory beds, private rooms, and a full restaurant. Reservations are essential for overnight stays, especially in July and August.
