Rifugio Scoiattoli stands at 2,255 m7,398 ft on a panoramic saddle directly beneath the Cinque Torri rock formations, one of the most distinctive landmarks near Cortina d'Ampezzo. The hut takes its name from the legendary Scoiattoli climbing club of Cortina, whose members pioneered many of the area's hardest routes. It is a mandatory waypoint on the Alta Via 1, linking the Falzarego area to the Tofane.

The views from the terrace are exceptional - the five limestone towers rise immediately to the east, while to the south the summit pyramid of Monte Pelmo dominates the skyline. The open-air WWI museum on the surrounding slopes adds a historical dimension to any visit. Several via ferrata routes depart from the nearby towers, making the hut a base for climbers.

Accommodation includes private rooms and dormitory beds. The hut is reachable either by a 20-minute walk from the Cinque Torri chairlift or by a longer trail from Passo Falzarego. The restaurant is well regarded for its polenta and venison dishes. Booking ahead is essential during July and August.
