Season Mid June - Early October
Capacity 40 Guests

Sillianer Hütte sits at 2,447 m8,028 ft on the main ridge of the Carnic Alps, straddling the border between Italy and Austria. The hut occupies a spectacular position on the Karnischer Höhenweg (Carnic High Trail), one of the longest ridge walks in the Eastern Alps, with views north into the East Tyrol valley of Sillian and south toward the Sexten Dolomites.

The most common approach starts from the village of Sesto (Sexten) on the Italian side or from Sillian in Austria, with ascents of roughly 1,200 m3,937 ft from either valley. The ridge terrain is open and exposed, with grassy slopes giving way to rocky ground near the summit crest. Weather can change rapidly at this altitude, so carrying wind and rain protection is essential.

The refuge accommodates 40 guests and serves traditional South Tyrolean and Austrian mountain cuisine - reflecting its unique position on the border. It is a popular overnight stop for long-distance trekkers on the Carnic High Trail and for hikers seeking a less-visited alternative to the busy Tre Cime circuit just to the south.
